Differentiating Similar Characters: License plates contain both the letter “O” and the number “0” (unlike VINs, which exclude the letter “O”). Recheck confusing characters such as numbers versus letters (like “1” and “I” or “8” and “B”).
Confirming Issuing Jurisdiction: Select the state that officially issued the registration, rather than the location where the vehicle is currently being sold or driven.
Removing Formatting Symbols: Omit spaces, hyphens, and stacked characters. Input only the alphanumeric string without breaks (for instance, submit ABC-123 as ABC123).
